Dance
A cave as an allegory of hell. In Voronia, the company La Veronal, directed by Marcos Morau, dives into the depths of the earth to explore evil. The cave Krúbera - Voronia, in the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Georgia, considered the deepest cave in the world - is the starting point to the exploration, on stage, of an authentic psychic trip through an underworld of ritual made by men and women in almost clerical clothing, trapped in a sort of limbo.
The dance in Voronia deconstructs the organic sequence, placing the body in a discussion with itself, a scream without voice, in movement, to go as far away as possible searching for the supreme performance. The music sways between a pulsating electronic beat, whispered voices and bits of classical music, the outcome in continuously unsettling.
Between moral reasoning, the virtuous dance and the dark atmospheres, Voronia maintains the labyrinthine aspect of the dramaturgy of La Veronal's pieces, which generate in the public an appealing experience, through the explosive encounter between dance, text and image, in which each one of us will find his/her own depiction.
