For the fourth year in a row, Teatro Viriato promotes K Cena - Projeto Lusófono de Teatro Jovem, bringing together several young people of different nationalities, cultural realities and contexts, but connected by the Portuguese Language, fostering the appreciation and recognition of their idiom and theatre as vehicles for the development of Lusophone identity and personal / interpersonal enrichment.
To that end, Teatro Viriato counts on Teatro Vila Velha (Salvador-Bahia, Brazil) and Instituto Camões/Centro Cultural Português - Pólo do Mindelo (Cape Verde) as partners for the dynamization of this youth theatre initiative.
In 2015, the three plays staged will share a common theme and will, once again, be authored by stage directors Graeme Pulleyn (Portugal), Marcio Meirelles (Brazil) and João Branco (Cape Verde). Despite their common theme, the approach of all groups to the same story will be dictated by their specific cultural experiences. Choices that reflect the unique character of the project, but also the richness of the portuguese speaking culture.
Throughout the creative process, young participants will be challenged to take part in workshops guided by "resident" stage directors of each partner structure and aimed to tackle the intricacies of acting, with the objective of preparing local groups for the staging of a play, which will be directed by the "guest" stage director.
