Vissaium was the name of the city of Viseu in the pre-roman and roman eras and the origin of the modern day toponym. Inspired by the old name and the archaeological knowledge of that long gone age, Teatro Viriato produced Vissaium a performing arts show that invites the audience to enjoy Viseu's rich archaeological patrimony through a journey that reflects the importance of the city as a building block for Portuguese national identity.
From Rua Direita to the roman wall at Rua Formosa, this expedition will allow the audience to discover ancient stones, yet unexplored archaeological sites and artefacts that tell the stories of a place that has always been shared by many different people who have lived here and here left their inerasable mark.
Note: We recommend the use of comfortable shoes. In the eventuality of adverse weather conditions the show will be performed at Teatro Viriato.
