What do truck drivers think during the long miles of their journeys? What happens to these men on their trips? What travellers are these and how do they mitigate their loneliness? And what about families - is there a place for them in these stories?
Created from the results of an extensive collection of stories of life "on the road", the show explores the poetic possibilities of those lives always in perpetual motion, lives of miles and miles of solitude, of isolation from those they love, of places just flying past, fleeting nights, encyclopaedic knowledge of highways and byways, roadside restaurants and hotels. A venue that is a kind of travelling handbook for a single traveller, while at the same time talks about that well known Portuguese disquiet - the one that has a person leave, and when already abroad gives them that pang of longing making them hurry back home, just so that they can once again depart, propelled by that thing that compels them to traverse mile after mile, after mile, in a never-ending cycle.
This show was a challenge thrown at Teatro do Vestido, by Teatro Viriato and business company PATINTER, recognising the peerless work that the collective has been developing through the collection of testimonies and life stories.
