TODOS OS FANTASMAS USAM BOTAS PRETAS

EXHIBITION

Produced by Teatro Nacional S. João, the exhibition Todos os Fantasmas Usam Botas Pretas gathers all stage photographs that João Tuna shot at TNSJ between 1996 and 2009. The images were "staged" by graphic designer João Bicker into the photo album Todos os Fantasmas Usam Botas Pretas. Some of the images are now singled out and displayed in Viseu.
Rodrigo Affreixo had this to say about the specificity of the work presented: "Tuna does not only document the precise aspects of every show, he also captures details, moments and sudden movements that are closer to pure abstraction" (Time Out, Oporto). Tensions and ambivalences highlighted by Tiago Bartolomeu Costa in the pages of Público: "An acute look at the venues themselves, and, through this, a way of crossbreeding narratives (as such, real) and dramaturgies (actually fictional) crystalized into moments that were, when all is said and done, envisioned as the epicentre of a dialogue between space, time and everything enveloping them".
