Jérôme Bel dissects the mechanisms of spectacle, putting on stage about twenty performers and a DJ who mixes and chains together the musical hits of the last thirty years (and) creates a mirror effect between dancers and spectators. (...) The magic of "The show must go on", as in many of Bel's plays, arises from the artist giving us time and space to watch, to get bored and engaged again, in (a) profusion of vivid and astonishing details. Tim Etchells, Forced Entertainment

"The show must go on", originally a song by Queen, is also the name of one of choreographer Jérôme Bel's most prolific works. On stage 20 performers, 19 songs and one DJ create a sort of choreographic karaoke in which the performers do exactly as they are told to do in the words of the songs, shifting the relationship between what we see and what we hear.
