Music
The Gloaming is a band of savant musicians, all with successful personal careers, performing Irish folk music in a novel way, by fusing it with different sounds, namely New York Jazz, while remaining faithful to the genre's origins.
To old songs they add poems of Irish History and Literature. They substitute the usual frantic rhythms of Gaelic music by a slower tempo, highlighting the musical beauty and depth of the various themes. Having performed at the world's most renowned Stages and Concert Halls, their first concert was sold-out even before the group had started to rehearse.
In 2014 they released their first record, garnering dozens of enthusiastic reviews and winning several awards.
The concert in the city of Viseu takes place one day before the band's performance at Culturgest, programming partner continuously challenging Teatro Viriato to reveal great world music artists to the public.
