TEMPOSTADE

THEATER

For five years, K Cena has been bringing Brazil, Cape Verde and Portugal closer. Throughout a grand total of fifty two weeks of rehearsals, five stage directors created thirteen shows from  such diverse themes as Peter Pan, Don Quixote, Fear, The Great Hangover and Ubu Roi. In 2018, two new partners embarked on this adventure, Teatro Nacional D. Maria II (Lisbon) and Teatro Nacional São João (Oporto).

K Cena sets forth on a new leg of its journey of discovery. Four young playwrights, Gabriel Gomes, Lisa Reis, Rafael Medrado and Sofia Moura were invited to participate in the first ever K Cena Dramaturgy meet-up. In Oporto, together with Jorge Palinhos and Nuno M Cardoso they discussed and explored the theme "The Future". In the city of Viseu, together with Graeme Pulleyn and Márcio Meirelles, characters were created. In Lisbon, with Tiago Rodrigues, meeting spots and possible structures were scouted. After six days of writing the young playwrights had created so many scenes that they decided to challenge themselves into combining the lot in just one text. That text is the starting point for three distinct shows in Salvador (BR), Mindelo (CV) and Viseu. A text that is akin to a long desert road, with no beginning nor end, a place where Time stops and wonders... where are we headed?
