THEATER
Sequências Narrativas Completas is a play designed by the artist João Sousa Cardoso, from the homonymous work by the writer and painter Álvaro Lapa, in a construction - different in each representation - between theater and conference.
After Raso como o Chão, Sequências Narrativas Completas deepens the questions of previous works dedicated to Álvaro Lapa - which include A Carbonária (2008) and Barulheira (2015) -, taking, this time, the last and most radical text from the author. Inhabited by the characters from the Lapian universe that always return in the paintings, the drawing or the writing, the language becomes here a physical material, visual and purely sonorous, in a fraternal dialogue with the giddiness and polyphony of Finnegans Wake, by James Joyce.
The crossing between performative arts and the labor of the thought made visible, the play crosses the dramatization of the text, the interior monologue, the diarist account and the essay about the Portuguese intimate life, domestic and public, in the brink of the revolution and democracy. But, having Álvaro Lapa been a teacher of João Sousa Cardoso, Sequências Narrativas Completas is, above all, the update of a talk between the former student with the old master, or between two confiding artists ou still a talk from the alive one with the past made present.
