Always liked the Peter Pan ... do not know how we are going to put it on the scene, although it was written for the stage ... Maybe we can make our own myth and its offshoots and see what a group of young actors to say with it. As Chief I learned how to drive the machine to where it can and should go, so I will try to deal with the story of a boy who doesn't want to grow up in a context marked by a Europe, a crisis in Portugal; questioning his own identity and growth in this global scene. A reflection shared by the young people of this project that, when asked by Skype on how they were living this crisis, I was told: "we are paying a debt that we didn't create." In Exchange I spoke to them about what it's like living in a country on the rise, knowing that this moment of Brazil is also terrible for a living, but does not participate fully in that rise.
I've always liked Peter Pan... I don't know how we're going to stage it even though it was originally written for stage... Maybe we can take the myth and its offshoots and see what a group of young actors proposes to do with it. As a stage director I've learnt to drive the machine to where it can and should go, so I tried to approach the story of a kid who doesn't want to grow up, within a deeply European context, of a Portugal in the rampant throws of an economic crisis, questioning his own identity and growth in this global scenario. A reflection shared by the young people of this project that, when asked via Skype on how they were living this crisis, I was told: "we are paying a debt that isn't ours." In exchange I told them about living in a country on the rise, knowing that this moment in Brazil's existence is terrible for the majority that lives, but doesn't take part in this ascension. I have lots of questions, so for me... it's fascinating! I go in search of this fascination that theater still has: asking questions.
