In "Rumor dos Deuses" ("Rumor of Gods") Paulo Ribeiro tried to create a kind of ceremony or metaphysical celebration where the body is the quintessentially communication vehicle. The play, which premiered in 1996, returns for a reassembly with a new cast, full of young graduates who are expected to be the next generation of contemporary dance in Portugal.Compared to "Sábado 2" ("Saturday 2"), this choreographic piece turned out to be a more contemplative work, which allowed the choreographer to develop the exploration of new movement vocabularies and the creation of new situations in which humour is built.
Paulo Ribeiro explores in this show a more subtle but at the same time exuberant physicality and he assumes a strange freedom of the soul.
