Shallow as the Groundremember the tradition, the revolution Having before touched the enigmatic shapes of Álvaro Lapa's (1939-2006) arsenal, the artist that bequeathed to the world a body of work where painting and writing intersect in a variety of literary, pictorial and philosophical references, Ana Deus (one of the creative forces behind Três Tristes Tigres and Osso Vaidoso) and João Sousa Cardoso (visual artist specializing in bonding aesthetic and social sciences) throw onto the stage one of the author's more intense texts Raso como o Chão (1977). A piece for a singer and a lecturer, who are given body and voice by these two proponents of a more immediate, self-taught, urgent theatre.
Raso como o Chão remembers tradition, revolution, and the communities of desire. It explores the relationship between theme and its variation, literature, personal writing and information, cutting, pasting and repetition. It also remembers a set of songs adjutant to a serious, pertinent reflexion regarding the country, yesterday and today, and the creative impetus that language can mobilize.
