Arménio is a person’s name, but it’s also the Portuguese word for the Armenian people. Arménia is a possible Portuguese word for the Armenian language, but it’s also the name of a person. The Armenian, whose name is not Arménio, tells us in armenian the story of his family, but no one understands his language. Arménia, who is not an Armenian, nor ever went to Armenia, lives her day-to-day in front of a piano, imagining the orient. But her world is only turned around when she hears, inside the building, a sound… quite different from all others.

Inspired by the personal and family histories of the show’s co-creator, Vahan Kerovpyan and Ana Madureira present “Quero um Piano”, a fiction made up of unexpected coincidences that bring distant realities closer together.

Between music and language, the duo invites us to overcome communication barriers and think about the importance of keeping one’s idiosyncrasies alive.
