THEATER
In October 2018, the pianist and piano teacher Inês Lamela presented at Teatro Viriato, in the scope of the programming of Masterclasses, her doctoral thesis centered in the development of music learning in a prison context. Beyond sharing the results of her research, she oriented a workshop with some inmates from the Estabelecimento prisional do Campo (prison), Viseu. This experience made Teatro Viriato recover the old proposition of inviting an artist of approaching an inmate and being together in an artistic process.
An ideia now materialized through the partnership with Estabelecimento Prisional do Campo, Viseu, which manifested the necessary openness and accepted the challenge. Primeiro Encontro (First encounter), as the name itself, is the first stage of a project of approximation to the inmate in a prisional context, that joins the Associated Artists of Teatro Viriato to Helena Rodrigues and Paulo Rodrigues, from Companhia de Música Teatral. The project will be developed during the first trimester of 2020.
