Orquestra de Jazz de Matosinhos challenges the sparse sound of Trio Azul, fronted by Carlos Bica and including German guitarist Frank Möbus and North-American drummer Jim Black, proposing new arrangements, specially prepared for this concert, based off a selection of themes by this collective.
Started in 1996 and with five records already published, the intense communication between Trio Azul's three musicians and the originality of their repertoire with references to various genres (rock, pop and traditional music) has brought them renown, from critics and audiences alike, that shows no sign of waning.
Orquestra de Jazz de Matosinhos was created in 1999 and is one of the most dynamic formations of present day Portuguese jazz. This collective not only plays regularly at the principal concert halls in the country but also in Brussels, Milan and New York.
