Oficina de Cinema de Animação

In a time dominated by digital media and the emergence of movies generated by artificial intelligence, Teatro Viriato, in partnership with Cine Clube de Viseu, reaffirms the value of analogue media and collective presence, investing on handcrafted art and shared experience.

In this workshop, participants will experience the various stages of film creation – from the visual conception of sets and characters to experimenting with techniques such as stop-motion (volumes and cutouts and 2D animation). As a starting point, we propose exploring the visual universe of “O Teatro também é a nossa casa”, by Ângela Rocha, an exhibition available for viewing at our Foyer. 

Which stories can we find and imagine on and off the stage? How can we incorporate everyone’s ideas into a short film? This journey of discovery will be guided by director Graça Gomes and illustrator and animator Maria Pessanha, both interested in creating animation films with children and members of the general audience.
