O MISANTROPO

THEATER

Satirical text of an enormous subtlety and undeniable formal care, The Misanthrope (1666) is an merciless analysis of the society and its rules that remain surprisingly current, exposing different power relations and delusion games, in an constant oscillation between sincerity and hypocrisy, between the attraction and the repulse from the stipulations.
Integrated in the cycle Grande Teatro do Mundo, The Misanthrope is a great Molière comedy, in one more incursion of the Ao Cabo Teatro in the classic french theatre. The staging has a new translation, by Alexandra Moreira Silva, that assumes the formal respect by the original text, but seeking a new comprehension of the performative and symbolic charge generated by the text.
