In 2025,  "Noite Fora" begins a new phase. This project, previously focused on the staged reading of existing works, dives into the realm of dramaturgic creation - an artistic endeavour with promising development in Portugal, but with a very underwhelming presence in academia, both in taught curricula and theoretical research; and a severe lack of infrastructures where it can be properly practised, developed and supported. From now on, "Noite Fora" will have two editions: the summer edition, focused on dramaturgic creation; and the winter edition, focused on the staged readings with local performers, directed by guest artists, in line with our usual format.
This open call pertains to the summer edition, urging all young playwrights who may want to take part in a writing lab headed by Sónia Barbosa and Inês Barahona (from July 8th to the 12th), where they will develop a text specifically for the stage, to apply. Besides the two main lecturers, the Lab will also have several online guests - dramaturgy specialists who will bring their own vision into this conversation about the creation of the written word. One of the texts created during this Lab will be selected as the basis for the staged reading of "Noite Fora" / Winter, in November 2025.
