Teatro Viriato has assumed, since the first day, the commitment to support the national contemporary dance. With the creation of New Age, New Time (NANT), in 2012, this commitment has affirmed itself as one of the new forms of dance promotion. Teatro Viriato gives space to the circulation of choreographic pieces, and at the time it allows new dialogues and gatherings between Portuguese choreographers, performers and the public. This way, the sensibilization of the audiences towards contemporary dance is also strengthened.
The seventh edition of NANT doesn't shy away from this commitment. From the 16th to the 30th of November, Teatro Viriato intends to create new artistic trajectories for the national contemporary dance, allowing the meeting between international creators that choreograph for national companies. It is the case of the presentation of the new work by the group Dançando com a Diferença, created by the Spanish chorographer and multidisciplinary artist, La Ribot. The premiere of the new piece by Companhia Paulo Ribeiro also allows a gathering between Portugal and Brazil, as it presents the new creation by the Brazilian choreographer Henrique Rodovalho. Tânia Carvalho, Luiz Antunes, Cláudia Dias, João Fiadeiro, Henrique Furtado, Aloun Marchal, Mickaël de Oliveira and Luiz Antunes also integrate the diverse artistic schedule of NANT, with bold presentations that celebrate contemporary dance.
