Timelessness, memories, freedom, struggle and silence are some of the themes present in New Age, New Time, 2017. With a diverse collection of stage shows and other unique activities, the city of Viseu is once again the principal stage of contemporary dance. For one week, both renowned and emergent choreographers inhabit the same space, sharing intellectual and aesthetic landscapes, intentions and motivations, not only enriching artistic freedom but also the whole of portuguese dance.
It's up to two reputed choreographers - that both have, for a long time, influenced the new wave of portuguese contemporary dance - to open and close the sixth edition of NANT, namely Paulo Ribeiro and Rui Horta. Three distinct generations make up this edition where audiences can also see the work of Teresa Silva, Filipe Pereira, Cláudia Dias, Ricardo Machado, Marta Cerqueira, António Cabrita and São Castro. We can likewise highlight the workshop headed by Phil Hulford, assistant to world renowned choreographer Hofesh Shechter, the exhibition "Para uma timeline a haver", by Ana Bigotte Vieira and João dos Santos Martins and also the holographic installation created by António Cabrita and São Castro.
An intense programme that celebrates dance, the arts and invites the audience to discover new artistic idioms inside contemporary dance.
