After João Botelho's pick, Cine Clube de Viseu once again promotes a special session part of the celebrations of their 60th anniversary, this time with a film picked by Pedro Mexia, who chose En La Ciudad de Sylvia (In the City of Sylvia).
Directed in 2007, En La Ciudad de Sylvia displays the special attention devoted to the "everyday" that distinguishes Guerín's documentaries. With a character and narrative clearness reminiscent of Rohmer, this poetic story about the search for the idealised woman takes a young man to Strasbourg where he hopes to find Sylvia, whom he met some years prior.
José Luis Guérin earned the attention of the international cinema community after directing Tren de Sombras (1997) and En Construcción (2000).
Pedro Mexia takes the opportunity afforded by this invitation to share his choice with the audience.
