Portugal's relationship with the sea is undeniably important: it has come to define the country socially, culturally and strategically, marking its history throughout the centuries. It is under the sign of water that the group Drumming presents, in Viseu, Mares, by composer António Chagas Rosa. A work that can be viewed as a fantasy of a Portuguese person born near the sea, but that demonstrates quite well the variety of resources and creative maturity of the composer, as well as the Percussion Group's mature performance and constant capacity for renewal.
In this concert, besides the works composed by António Chagas Rosa, the group also addresses themes by other composers, such as Viet Cuong, José Manuel Lopez, Isabel Soveral and Fernando Villanueva. They bring to the stage the hidden and clear sound of water that cohabitates in our houses, the dance of mother Yemayá, creator of life, the maritime haikus that inspires us, the movement of the Dragon, protector of the seas, and the different textures of a perpetual movement that invites each person to use his/her imagination.
