LAHTO

CONTEMPORARY CIRCUS

Lähtö, directed by the Finnish magician and visual artist, Kalle Nio, presents a couple apart from each other that floats between images and oneiric illusions. Confused, they remain on stage, surrounded by clothes. Feelings and thoughts are expressed through the movement of their bodies and the clothes come to life, in a plot in which humor and tragedy, with an absurd tone, alternate.
Inspired in the illusionary stage works of the magicians from the 19th century, Lähtö happens in a mysterious atmosphere built from the roaring sound landscapes and of screenings that create illusions and frenzies, making it difficult to distinguish what is real and/or a mere mirage, in a cross between contemporary circus, magic, visual arts and dance.
Despite this risky attempt, Lähtö challenges any description or explanation, the same was as its interpreters challenge Newton's law of physics... The only thing left to say is that, in Portuguese, Lähtö means departure.
