The adventure that is IntErLúNio started in 2006, the initiative of bass guitarist and composer Ricardo A. Freitas, and finally produces a debut album under the JACC Records label: L'Ennui Riot.
There are substantial differences between this collective's music and other Portuguese jazz, not least of all because the actual instrumental formation of the group is also quite unusual. Firstly, because of the presence of an acoustic bass guitar (electrically amplified, so it is, in fact, an electroacoustic instrument) and not a double bass or electric bass. Secondly, because it includes a couple of Indian tablas, played by german Raimund Engelhardt - currently residing in the Algarve - instead of conventional drums. It also includes an unprecedented front of wind instruments with two brasses, the trumpet of Johannes Krieger, another German living in Portugal, and the trombone of Edward Lucy, and clarinets courtesy of Gonçalo Lopes.
