Farsa (lit. farce) means illusion, artifice, dysmorphia. Errol Morris, director, tells us that “deceit does not require language. […] [it] only […] misdirection. All it requires is the intent to have someone think something that is different from what you believe.”

In this creation for three performers, with a scenic machine inspired by optical illusion devices of the 19th century, Catarina Miranda, explores the concepts of perception, deceit and transmission as forces that shape contemporary experience.

Inspired by Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave”, “FΛRSΛ” is a construct of moving matter – a choreography of light, sound and matter, that, while studying illusion and manipulation, reflects on how disinformation shapes our idea of truth and our reality. One just needs to change perspective, change framing, and facts quickly transform into perception.
