FADOS, FANTASMAS E FOLIAS

Music

Multi talented artist, with many renowned works done for TV, Theatre, Music and Cinema, Zeca Medeiros sings, delights, invents and reinvents without ever tiring the audience. He never sings one song the same way twice but does it with a unique portentous voice, his hands, face and heart, because all in him is music.
Many compare him to Tom Waits, but on stage the singer and musician seems to send the audience's mind's eye off towards the music universe of Jacques Brel, thanks to his commitment and delivery of his songs of love and hurt.
Zeca Medeiros' concert presents tracks from his recently published Fados, Fantasmas e Folias. Author of all music and respective lyrics, he fuses and indelibly mixes the worth of words with the tradition and culture of the Azores, adding, with indisputable craftsmanship, his low raspy voice, at times soothing, at others powerfully disconcerting. Some of the songs that will be part of the show are Camarim - Canção da Timidez, Eu gosto tanto de ti que até me prejudico and Cançoneta do Forte Fraquinho. This last theme was used in Paulo Ribeiro's choreographic piece Paisagens... "onde o negro é cor" and will be performed in a very special way at Teatro Viriato.
