ESTRANHOS COM ARTE

EXHIBITION

The creation of projects with community involvement has been one of the focuses of Teatro Viriato, as part of its strategy to approach the public to contemporary performing arts.
In 2013 nearly 100 people were invited to participate in three creative processes, guided by professional artistic teams: A Viagem by Filipa Francisco, Sempre em Frente até Amanhecer (K Cena - Projeto Lusófono de Teatro Jovem) by Marcio Meirelles and Heaven ou Ainda: Tu by André Mesquita.
From A Viagem with Rancho Folclórico de Torredeita, to the young 'Peter Pans' of K Cena, and without forgetting the performers that danced throughout Herberto Helder's heaven and/or hell, each project imbued the community with new meanings. And each participant, in their own way, some faster and some slower, crawled out from under the fear and strangeness that comes with every new experience allowing themselves to be enthralled by the unique opportunity of discovering the stage. They grew together over weeks and/or months of intense rehearsals. And finally, arrived at the stage renewed.
This experience is now evident at the exhibition Estranhos com Arte, by José Alfredo exclusively dedicated to all projects with the community that Teatro Viriato launched in 2013. And each image now shows the bodies that awed those who saw them on stage for the first time.
