If we accept that plants have other ways of thinking, feeling and communicating, another form of consciousness and another notion of time, perhaps we can evaluate our own notions of what it is to think, feel, be, communicate, transform and be conscious.
Estado vegetal' (Vegetable State) is a play that revolves around an impossible dialogue between humans and plants. A failed dialogue with nature, which is perhaps our most innate monologue. The protagonist is a woman who is not an individual but a crowd, a swarm.
This is not an animal work, it is a vegetable work. A polyphonic, branching, exuberant, repetitive, divisible and sessile monologue.
The show is based on the revolutionary thinking of philosophers like Michael Marder and neurobiologists like Stefano Mancuso. It seeks to investigate new concepts such as plant intelligence, vegetative soul or plant communication, as well as their influences on creative processes.
