The show "Esquecimento" ("Oblivion") is the new collective creation of Teatro da Cidade and it was born out of the reflection about The Right to Oblivion, featured in the Charter of Human Rights in the Digital Era.
From the necessity to oblivion that one may feel at times, Teatro da Cidade intends on reflecting on what in contemporary society impels us to seek the opposite: eternity, memory, and recognition.
On the other hand, there is also the way how social instruments, how social networks or social communication change our relationship with memory, by letting the scars of a disease, a mistake, a decision or quote reappear over the course of our lives. That introduces another question: what entitles someone or something to be forgotten?
