“Empregos Modernos” is a show that questions the concept of work and the contemporary forms it takes, determining material conditions of existence, possibilities for social positioning and mobility, as well as specific and distinct power dynamics between citizens.
A chorus of workers – reminiscent of a Brechtian chorus – shares its labour routine, where tension, anguish and dreams cross paths. The apparently unstoppable, and often times, maladjusted economy machine generates effects that one can only perceive through each person’s personal and intimate discourse.
