In this workshop, Rui Paixão, in residence at Teatro Viriato, challenges participants to an intensive exploration of improvisation and the act of spontaneous creation. Even though this is not a clown workshop, he will endeavour to inspire a state that serves a “clownish” dance, expressive, grotesque, creative and provocative.

Aimed at both professionals and amateurs of theatre, dance and circus, this workshop adopts a healthy methodology of collaboration between participants and pedagogue, so participants can rest assured they will not be negatively exposed or ridiculed.

Rui Paixão is a creator and performer of physical theatre, clown and contemporary circus, renowned for his work at Cirque du Soleil. Last October he brought his latest creation, “Furo Lento”, to Teatro Viriato.
