Following the success of the first showing, Édipo returns to Teatro Viriato's programme. A must see performance, marked by its masterful stage direction and the commitment of the actors in deconstructing greek tragedy. Without any kind of prop or object they seize the essence of the story, reinterpret details and turn tragedy into comedy. Sophocles' tragic hero melted away and in its place we find an unlucky, harassed, derided and hurt Oedipus. While trying to rid himself of his misfortune, Oedipus drags the audience through a fast-paced journey built of laughs...
This time, Oedipus' reinvented comic flight from his terrible destiny, can be seen in a school context (for Secondary Education classes), allowing for greater refection and dialogue in the classroom about adaptation and the reinterpretation of classics.
