With his exceptionally rich prose and imagination, Aquilino Ribeiro sketches a portrait of the Portuguese region known as Beira, while defining the limits of its affective universe. Limits that are, to this day, intrinsic to its people. Do Demo is a project born from the challenge of designing, constructing a stage show based on Aquilino Ribeiro's body of work. And so, the author provides the ideal building blocks to create an artistic enterprise that crosses the boundaries between professional and amateur, between art theatre and community theatre, becoming a space of creation and reflection where the experience and memory of the participants double as cipher keys of a potential dramaturgy.
The confrontation between Aquilino's territory, his weird, undecided geography and its real-life counterpart takes centre stage in this project together with the people, the community that inhabits this land.
