CONTEMPORARY CIRCUS
After its first phase in 2015, Circus Lab returns with a space for reflecting about art in the context of school and with artistic creations designed from the ground up.
Project partners, namely ACERT, Binaural/Nodar, Companhia Paulo Ribeiro, Erva Daninha, Companhia O Último Momento and Companhia Radar 360º, will develop three distinct artistic processes together with classes from Escola Secundária Viriato (Viseu), Agrupamento de Escolas de Tondela Tomaz Ribeiro and Agrupamento de Escolas de São Pedro do Sul.
These works aim to promote New Circus, an art discipline seldom explored in Portugal, near the younger generations but also to foster, within each work group, the open minded discussion of universal subjects, narrowing the gaps between arts and education. The creative processes will end with public presentations at ACERT (Tondela), Cine Teatro Municipal Jaime Gralheiro (São Pedro do Sul) and at Teatro Viriato (Viseu).
In Viseu, the presentation will be preceded by an international conference reflecting upon the importance of integrating art education into compulsory education curricula. This conference is targeted at teachers, school group directors, decision-makers with political responsibilities in the domain of Education and researchers. In the days following the first one, similar conferences will take place at Centro Cultural Vila Flor (Guimarães) and O Espaço do Tempo (Montemor-o-Novo).
