In the year of Teatro Viriato's 25th anniversary, Cine Clube de Viseu, a long time partner, joins the celebration by organising a seminar about North-American avant-garde cinema with renowned, and influential, film historian Richard Peña. Avant-garde films from the 60s, where several directors challenged the active notions of gender and sexuality, attained a vital place in contemporary artistic creation.
This mini-course is an unmissable opportunity for the reflection and discussion of a core issue in contemporary creation. It is something that can inspire and provide an anchor for youngsters who might be interested in contact with an inspiring personality from the world of cinema.
Richard Peña was programme director at Film at Lincoln Center and also lead programmer for the New York Film Festival (1988 - 2012), and brings us a seminar about avant-garde cinema and a lot more: theatre, dance and experimentalism at the forefront of a myriad of social movements.
seminar accredited by APECV (Requires the submission of a final project)
