Ciclo Libertem as Criança

In 2015, Carlos Neto, tenured professor and researcher at the Faculty of Human Kinetics, University of Lisbon, and one of the chief world specialists in the domain of games and play, alerted us for the importance of physical activity and leisure in the healthy and independent growth of children and teens. A theme he further developed when writing the book “Libertem as Crianças”.

Having the concerns expressed by the university teacher as a starting point, the first edition of this cycle takes the title of that same book and, throughout one week, calls on the school community, tutors, researchers and pedagogues to debate what schools could and should do, the importance of play in cognitive-kinetic development and the need for a more intimate connection between arts and school as a way to contribute for the education of children that are more aware and sensitive to the world around them.
 
To help this collective reflection, we have the help of: Plano Nacional das Artes and its “Caderno Criar Coragem” for young activists; Companhia Caótica and their analysis on the value of liberty on the creation and enjoyment of art; Carlos Neto and a debate focused on human kinetics; and Formiga Atómica, that challenges the younger generations to make decisions and takes a trip through an outdated education system.
