In this second Choreographic Lab, promoted by PLAY FALSE | associação cultural in partnership with Teatro Viriato, the French choreographer Antonin Comestaz brings his workshop ‘Body Riddles’ to Viseu.

Having danced with some of Europe's leading dance companies — including the Paris Opera Ballet, the Hamburg Ballet, Tanz Theater München, Ballet Mainz and Scapino Ballet Rotterdam — Antonin Comestaz has been working as a choreographer since 2013. Antonin's style is a unique and playful combination of various genres, from traditional to mime, breakdance, ballet, contemporary dance and cartoons, infused with a refined sense of the absurd.

With ‘Body Riddles’, the choreographer invites participants to enter his universe, where movements and gestures are treated as words that, in sequence, outline characters, tell a story or form riddles. This will be a 3-phase work experience, the first of which will be dedicated to familiarising participants with his approach and philosophy of movement, through a space for improvisation that explores the dialogue between the body and the imagination. In the second phase, these concepts are applied to choreographic material marked by rapid changes in dynamics and properties. In the third phase, Antonin proposes to deconstruct, transform and recontextualise the existing material with the creative contribution of the participants.
