EXHIBITION
From his (other) place: backstage, photographer and Teatro Viriato collaborator Carlos Fernandes returns to the premise of his previous project Scene and challenges the audience to uncover a new layer of meaning for artistic objects, this time, through their most intrinsic elements - the creators.
In Cartografia(s) (I)Materiais, Carlos Fernandes portrays about twenty five creators, stage directors and choreographers that took part in Teatro Viriato's programmes between January and July of 2016. And, simultaneously, obliges them to materialise in a different geography, that of text, of the intangibility of the stage, as a veritable spatiality and territory of transformation. A multimodal discourse triggered to encompass the various dimensions of the unique material/immaterial dichotomy of the cultural landscape.
