BRITÂNICO

THEATER

Tragedy in five acts, Britânico is a play that reflects on the values of civilization: power, honour and truth, diving deep into the psychologism of the characters as a principal quality of tragedy.
By putting the monstrosity of his characters on stage, the author paints a picture where necessity and political games are left abandoned to the whims of the passions, where blood contaminates the struggle for power and where the ill-fated inevitability of the future is defined by the preponderance of violence and machiavellianism in the face of love and hope.
Companhia Ao Cabo Teatro recovers this Racine play with full knowledge that the text, complex and imbued with a sense of urgency, maintains a contemporaneity that needs no defence.
