Two decades after their first collaboration, Italian-British folk composer Piers Faccini and Malian kora virtuoso Ballaké Sissoko return, once again, with a hypnotizing album: “Our Calling”. Launched in February of this year, this captivating musical dialogue – between a prodigious instrumentalist and a talented composer and wordsmith – ably bridges continents and traditions, inventing new forms of song.
Boasting ten finely crafted tracks, “Our Calling” is a sound and narrative approbation of migration in all its forms: seeds carried by the wind; nightingales flying between Africa and Europe when the seasons turn; and humans, throughout the centuries, sharing musical traditions and rhythms. Twenty years of friendship between Faccini and Sissoko, that, even then, keep their own distinct voices, whole and confident enough to freely converse with each other.
First time in Portugal! Don’t miss it!
