Over a blank screen, several characters, played by a cast rife with prominent names of Portuguese theatre, build a new world, layer upon layer, depleting the voice that demands an answer to all inquietude.
That could very well be a fitting description for As You Like It / Como Queiram, a stripped down play made up of people on a blank screen. From a dark court, bleak and void of colour, heroes flee or are expelled, only to meet in the forest light, a neutral and free territory. Here in the forest of Arden (an uncannily similar word to "ardem" - Portuguese for "burn", where characters can burn or rediscover the flame of life), through Rosalind all are directed towards the questions that move them. Questions for which no books and no mentors seem to hold the answers. Free of expectations and prejudices, in the world of light and colour, young people, less young and the mature, find the redeeming path back to themselves, most of them returning full circle to the beginning, while others cause a definitive break with what destiny intended for them.
