AQUECIMENTO ESCLARECIDO

THEATER

Aquecimento Esclarecido is a satirical monologue/conference that throws a series of provocations to the public, in an attempt to expose the main concepts of climate change, while dismantling (through the use of nonsense) some favourite sceptic arguments from those who deny the existence or human responsibility regarding climate change.
Inspired by the well-known conference given by Al Gore, made even more famous by the film An Inconvenient Truth, this particular method of doing theatre while divulging scientific facts is as unusual as the $ 10,000 prize that Exxon Mobil Oil offered in 2006, to reward any scientist who could discover errors in the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, and this was the starting point from which David Marçal created the text.
Geared towards a school audience, this project - winner of the Ideias Verdes 2010 prize, promoted by Fundação Luso - Expresso - will be followed by a debate, attended by experts, and centred on issues pertaining to climate change and the need to adopt a sustainable way of life.
