A man gets up and finds a strange creature from the bowels of the earth. They start by sizing each other up, observant, confrontational, trying to dominate each other, until they finally reach a common ground of understanding. From this point onwards, a new world gets invented, or human nature becomes muddled, both entangled in one another, dropping us into a sense of deep peace.
"Ancrage" is a search for identity, a return to basics, our roots, our earth.
Modou Fata Touré is a contemporary circus performer from Senegal. With an already eclectic circus repertoire under his belt, the founder of the SenCirk company wants to show the world a new vision of Senegal and Africa. He inverts traditional stereotypes and clichés, fusing senegalese culture with influences from artists of different origins and disciplines.
