Capturing the Yellow, finding where it hides and why, are the purposes of this play created by Catarina Requeijo. Challenged, in 2009, to envision a show with only this colour as a starting point, the stage director thought about doing a sensory approach, taking into account the polar reactions this particular shade of the spectrum awakens in each person: to some it's as bitter as lemon while being as sweet as honey to others.
In the end, Yellow became a clownesque universe, close to the uncompromised vision with which children look upon the world.
The result is the portrayal of a small island where the inhabitants only like yellow. Without making value judgements, Catarina Requeijo presents an image of what happens when people can only appreciate what they know - and that might not be necessarily a bad thing.
In a humorous tone, she explores the creativity, intelligence and absurd reasoning of children.
