Circa 1914-18, five men (a Frenchman, an Italian, a Scotsman and a Senegalese) share their day-to-day in a trench - the only differentiating characteristic between them? Each one's dirty, mud encrusted uniform. At their side lives a woman, symbolising the loss of happiness.
Unable to escape the improbable idiosyncrasies of life in the trenches, the five soldiers decide to transform the terrible reality into a tragicomic parody because, despite the unavoidable fate that awaits them in the near future, the present invites them to live.
In A Tragédia é o melhor Pedaço do animal, Théâtre de La Mezzanine, well known for their awe-inspiring and extravagant performances, once again demonstrates a very particular talent for the creation of metaphors that carry the public into a highly surprising and complex visual, theatrical and musical universe.
