A Presença das Formigas is a collective whose compositions combine elements of Portuguese traditional and popular music with influences of jazz, classical and world music.
The group tries to recover traditional sounds without the limiting effects of nostalgia, a method which has earned them several prizes, amongst them the Prémio Zeca Afonso awarded at Festival Cantar Abril 2009, won with their original song O Rei (A morna indiferença).Largely recognized by specialised press, the collective already has two records under their belt. Their latest work, Pé de Vento, explores the theme of departure, its motivations and consequences, also casting a reflection upon the world of today.
