Heiner Müller's "Der Auftrag: Erinnerungen an eine Revolution", is one of the principal texts of the 20th century. A modern classic, it has the virtue of confronting all those that try to stage it with the fact that they lack the proper tools to adapt Müller's work. It will make us think, with renewed perspective, about the movements of a revolution. In a time deeply affected by war and social divisions, to stage Müller is the perfect opportunity to ponder questions of social and political ethics.
This is Teatro da Cidade's twelfth production, the second in collaboration with Teatro Viriato. This text was chosen with the help of audience members who participated in "Clube de Leitura", an activity that Teatro da Cidade staged at Teatro Viriato in 2022.
