“2062” dives into a dystopian future where feeling is prohibited. Inspired by the universe of George Orwell’s “1984”, this stage show brings us a world where emotions have been banished, public gestures are regulated by an algorithm and each step of one’s existence is surveiled, catalogued and controlled by technology.
But something goes wrong. Some teenagers find letters, written by their own hand thirty-six years prior, carefully sealed to be opened in 2062. In these missives survive vestiges of affection, doubt, fury and dream – memories of a time when people still believed in being able to feel.
Reading them, the love, the poetry and the desire for freedom turn into sparks of insurrection. “2062” is the portrait of a generation that, even when shackled by codes and machines, discovers that the greatest technology one can use in the name of resistance is their own heart.
