“Quis saber quem sou” (lit: I wanted to know who I am) was the first sentence with revolutionary connotation at the beginning of modern Portuguese democracy, heard on the 24th of April 1974, at 10.55pm, on the airwaves of the Emissores Associados radio station. The first verse of the song “E Depois do Adeus”,  filled to the brim with both individual and collective questioning, performed by Paulo de Carvalho, marks the historical start of the revolution, transforming a song about love into a symbol of freedom. Halfway between a concert and a stage play, “Quis saber quem sou — um concerto teatral” revisits revolutionary songs, the mottos that came out of them, the way that songs informed action, but also the personal stories of the generations that made the 25th of April happen, bringing to the stage young actors/singers, and infusing their voices and bodies (manifestations of present and future), with the memory of words of freedom.
